Genuine Emu feathers are great for fly fishing, dreamcatchers and feather crafting. These are "Double Feathers" (two feathers from one quill), although some are packaged as singles. Emu feathers range from a silky, soft, white with a black tip from the chest of the Emu to a solid black straw like feather amost 14" long from the back end of the bird.
Emu tail feathers vary in size but can get up to 18" long and can have a very straw-like feel" are unique in their decorating and craft uses.  This is excellent for hats, flower arrangements or in vase alone.

Emu body feathers are very soft and very flexible. They can be used to decorat hats, clothing accents, jewelry, southwestern arts and crafts, in feather dusters, cat toys, etc.
The lower part of the shaft is called the quill. The upper part of the shaft is called the rhachis. It supports the vanes. The quill is very tiny. The primary and secondary rhachis comes out of it. The reason the emu feather is so soft and flexible is because the vanes are not held together by barbs like on most other bird feathers.
Improve your flies with Emu Feathers, great for both wet and dry flies, used for Wally wings, hackles, body wraps and more. The Emu feather is very versatile and ranges in texture from silky soft to straw like and ranges in length from 1 inch to 18 inches. e3 has a "fly tying package" designed with fly tiers in mind, each package contains 32 feathers, 4 of each of 8 different colors including natural.
Because emu feathers have a double plume coming from a single shaft, they are highly prized by fly fishermen who tie their own lures. Emu feathers trigger strikes from bass because the feather shape and color is so similar to that of minnows. Because of the unique double plume, the feather will open and close with the water movement, a "breathing action" that is irresistible to bass. Emu feathers also soak up and hold liquid fish attractant for hours.
